Corkbark UK Natural Cork Tiles are an excellent background option for terrariums, vivariums, and display builds. They are safe for reptiles and amphibians, lightweight yet durable, and resistant to rot and mould under normal terrarium conditions. 

This 60 x 90 cork tile is suited to medium and large enclosures where you want to cover more surface area with fewer joins. It’s ideal for full back walls, feature backgrounds, and larger custom builds, while still being easy to cut down to size if needed.

Each panel has a smooth reverse side, making them easy to cut and install. The cork is simple to work with and allows décor to be pinned directly into the surface, helping you create practical vertical habitats. Suitable for high-humidity and arid setups, these tiles work across a wide range of environments and build types.

The natural cork texture also provides grip and visual depth, encouraging natural climbing and exploration behaviours. Panels can be used individually or combined to cover larger areas, making them suitable for custom backgrounds, feature walls, or decorative installations.

What size Cork Tile Background should I buy?

Our cork tiles are available in two sizes, giving you flexibility for a wide range of terrarium and vivarium setups. If you are covering a single back wall, measure the internal width and height of your enclosure and choose a tile that is slightly larger than required. This allows you to trim the panel for a clean, snug fit.

For more complex builds, such as layered backgrounds, corners, or custom shapes, we recommend using the larger tiles and cutting them down as needed. Larger panels give you more freedom when shaping and planning your layout. In particularly large enclosures, you may need multiple panels to cover the full surface. In these cases, our multipacks offer a more practical option, while ensuring a consistent finish across the enclosure.

How do I install Natural Cork Tiles?

Natural cork tiles are easy to install and will bond to most enclosure surfaces when used with a suitable sealant. We recommend using a waterproof sealant designed for high-humidity environments, such as those used in aquariums or bathrooms.

Before fitting, ensure the surface is clean and dry. Test-fit the tile first, then trim if required. Apply the sealant evenly to the reverse side of the cork and press firmly into place. Allow adequate curing time before introducing substrate, décor, or animals. Once installed, the tiles provide a secure, long-lasting background suitable for both humid and arid setups.
